For many centuries, this system has been widely used in Russia, Northern European countries, and, more recently, in the United States, Canada and Eastern France. The system has been improved significantly over the last 30 years thanks to the hard work of many competent and passionate builders. Several « school » have developed their own variations on this, but the core principle remains the same.
